Custom Cut Records & Dubplates
PLEASE NOTE: OUR MULTIMEDIA DIVISION WILL BE MOVING TO ANOTHER FACILITY STARTING JUNE 15, 2009 AND WILL BE BACK UP AND RUNNING APPROXIMATELY JULY 30, 2009
With over 30 years experience with disk recording, our engineer creates industry standard recordings using newly rebuilt and updated disk cutting equipment on new, professional quality blank disks. We offer standard weight lacquer dub disks and heavier-duty lacquer Reference Lites for DJ use. Vinyl mastering services are also available and we can coordinate the entire manufacturing process for you, making it much easier to get your project ready for sale. We also assist with copyright and music licensing to protect your own material from piracy or theft and properly license covers or samples so you don't get sued!
All standard speeds are available; 16 2/3 RPM, 33 1/3 RPM, 45 RPM, or 78 RPM. Jukebox collectors can hear current music on their vintage 45 or 78 RPM machines! Large center hole 7 inch '45' blanks are available, as well as 10 inch 78 RPM disks. Prices shown below include setup, blank media, disk cutting, a blank white or our full color in-house printed label with titles and side numbers (specify which you prefer when ordering), and an acid-free archival quality white paper sleeve. 12 inch disks include a glossy white cardboard jacket with center hole.
Send your source material to us on CD or DVD (in data or audio format), DAT, Minidisk, audio cassette, or open reel tape in any 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch format. You can also upload files directly to our web server. Please send .wav or .aiff format files in as high of sampling rate as your equipment is capable of. We will accept .mp3's and other compressed formats, but do not recommend using them as the compression affects sound quality. Editing and mastering services are available at additional charge.

†Half Speed mastering is a practice developed in the 1970's to improve the quality of sound on a record by slowing the source material as well as the recording turntable to half speed. This practice is more effective with analog source materials, but can be done with high-resolution digital sources as well. Please contact us for details.

The durability of a lacquer disk can be comparable to that of a vinyl pressing, if played on a properly adjusted turntable mechanism at an appropriate tracking weight (no more than 3 to 5 grams), with a new or known-good, undamaged stylus. There has been much debate over the durability of lacquers, with claims ranging from a few as 10 to as many as 100 plays "before significant surface noise makes them useless". Lacquers will last a very long time and will withstand numerous plays if reproduced as described above. Rough handling, improper cleaning, playback with a damaged stylus, or use of a turntable mechanism that is out of adjustment can cause excess wear and even damage to not only a lacquer disk, but a vinyl pressing as well. Many collectors have home-made or radio station lacquer recordings made 40 or more years ago that with the exception of minor incidental surface noise caused by usage, wear or damage over the years, play today with the same fidelity as when new and some play with little to no noticable wear. Lacquers do not 'fade', lose significant frequency response, or become excessively noisy under normal use. They will last for many years and many plays if cared for properly.

Our disks are cut on Scully lathes, which are known for their superior mechanics and stability. We operate two cutting suites, one for stereo disks and one for mono. Our stereo suite uses the Westrex Stereodisk® recording system and our mono suite is a custom Grampian feedback system - one of the highest quality monophonic systems, which was used by such labels as Motown and others in the production of many now-classic records. All equipment in both cutting suites has been rebuilt with modern components and calibrated for superior sound quality. The blank disks we use are made with the highest quality aluminum substrate materials obtainable, and are coated with lacquer formulations which have been developed and improved over a period of 70+ years.
Please note that our disks are cut using the RIAA recording equalization curve, as all records have since 1955, and require a phonograph preamp or phono-specific input in order to be reproduced properly. No record will sound correct if played by plugging a turntable into a 'CD', 'AUX', or 'TAPE' input on a receiver/amplifier, or directly into a computer sound card or input channel on an audio mixer, as these do not have RIAA circuitry to properly reproduce the sound coming from the disk. Either an external phono preamp, or a receiver/amplifier with a specific input marked "phono" must be used to properly play any record.
Many turntables manufactured today have the preamp built-in, so a 'CD' or other input can be used, and many of the new USB compatible turntables also include the RIAA preamp. Please check your equipment and setup prior to playing any record.
Our disks are used by audiophiles, collectors, and DJ's in the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, the United Kingdom and other countries. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact us.
